To All Stakeholders:
On behalf of the Colorado Departments of Public Health and Environment, Agriculture, and Revenue, thank you for your active participation in our Industrial Hemp Testing Stakeholder Meeting on October 1, 2018. During the stakeholder meeting, we evaluated a variety of challenges inherent in the current framework for industrial hemp and hemp products in Colorado.
The agencies appreciate the input of all participants as Colorado continues to play a leadership role in the development of this emerging industry. Understanding the various stakeholder concerns and working together to find solutions will continue to play an important role for the hemp industry and our agencies. To focus our efforts on addressing the issues that brought us together, we are convening an Industrial Hemp Testing Work Group. The work group will be staffed by participants representing a cross-section of industry representatives, staff from the relevant regulators, and other stakeholders who can contribute their subject matter expertise to the issues. The work group will perform research, engage in discussions, and collaborate to answer the key testing-related questions posed at our October 1st stakeholder meeting. We anticipate facilitating a series of meetings in December and, if necessary, early January. Results of these efforts will be shared with all stakeholders on this email and may form the basis for rule-making, legislative initiatives, or another form of action.
